On Monday afternoon, around 4 p.m., a KC130 Hercules transport plane went down in Leflore County, Mississippi. All 16 servicemen aboard, including 15 Marines and a Navy corpsman, were killed in the service’s deadliest aviation accident in years. The servicemen were participating in a predeployment training exercise.
The flight contained members of the Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron (VMGR452) 452, a New York-based Reserve unit out of Stewart Air National Guard base, and the 2nd Marine Raider Battalion out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
